Anna Morris of Britain won gold in the individual pursuit of the European track championships in Belgium after the world record was destroyed twice a day.
The Welsh cyclist sets a best 4min 28.306sec on qualifications and is better at the final Heusden-Zolder as he beat Italy’s Vittoria Guazzini at 4: 25.874.
Morris, who won an individual copper chase in last year’s championships, became the first woman to win the European title in the new 4km format of the event, as Sophie Lewis of Britain ended sixth.
Neah Evans ended Eighth at the new kilogram, with European debutant Iona Moir 18th, while Grace Lister graduated from the fifth of the women’s race and Noah Hobbs ninth in the Omnium.
On the last day on Sunday, Matt Walls and Will Perrett will compete with Men’s Madison, with Evans and Maddie Leech in the women’s event. Lyall Craig, Harry Ledingham-Horn, Rhian Edmunds and Lauren Bell will compete with Men and Women’s Keirin respectively.
