Russian shelling kills three people in Pokrovsk – Governor
Russia’s shelling killed three people on Saturday in the eastern town of Ukrainian PokrovskThe regional governor confirmed in a telegram post this morning.
Pokrovsk has been attacking for months since the former mining city in the eastern region of Donets is seen as a strategic important logistics hub.
But Ukraine’s military has reported success in recent weeks of preventing Russian forces in the area.
On Saturday, Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Ukraine Donetsk region, where he met commanders of drone units near Pokrovsk.
“I visited the pokrovsk tactical team command post and met with the drone line commanders, combined with the best -silent systems of Ukraine’s armed forces units,” the Ukrainian leader wrote to X.
“I received a report on the defense of the Pokrovsk direction, the operational situation, and the development of missions. I honored our fighters in state awards.”
Here are some of the latest images that come out of Kyiv following the deadly Russian drone attack launched overnight:
Russia’s Ministry of Defense said earlier today it shot 59 Ukrainian drones in a number of regions in the south, and in Crimeawhich is recognized worldwide as part of Ukraine, despite its illegal Russian fusion in 2014.
Russian forces launched 147 drones overnight throughout Ukraine and the country’s air defense shot 97 drones, reported by the Air Force of Ukraine. Last day, Air Defense shot 100 drones launched by Moscow, and 114 drones the day before that.
Kremlin said last week that he agreed with a slight US stop, that Vladimir Putin agreed to stop strikes on Ukrainian energy targets for 30 days, after a long phone call to US president Donald Trump.
Despite the announcement, made while officers work towards a broader deal, Russian and drone attacks continue against Ukraine.
My colleague Pjotr Sauer has written this useful explanation of when the stop is expected to be effective and what will happen if Russia or Ukraine breaks their words.
