The blue beyond … Moana 2. Photo: Disney/AP

Moana 2 (David Derrick Jr, 2024), Disney+
This is the second installation of what we should now call a “franchise” (a live-action version of the 2016 original will come out next year), so the rarity value is delicious as you can. This is a colorful, musical business as usual, with Auli’i Cravalho’s evullient Polynesian navigator Moana covering the blue to find a drowning isla-cursed by bad storms Nalo-whose resurrection will re-connect all the scattered people to the ocean. Dwayne Johnson as Demigod Maui Vies for the position of comic foil with a pet pet of Moana and the naive -creepy rooster, and it is good to see coconut pirates back in the fighty form. The gods and monsters increased, with Nalo clearly positioned as the thanos of the series. SIMON WARDELL
