Traveling salesman Cliff (Scoot McNairy) finds it difficult to get to when he falls with ex-with Ricky (a smirking Kit Kiton), his partner in an EMBEZZLEMENT scam with their former company. Ricky offers him a simple job, driving drugs and guns from A to B – but, inevitably, nothing goes straight about it. Rod BlackHurst’s foreboding thriller – all deadbeat motels and snowbound montana roads – have fun echoes of Fargo, with cunning plants and durability as his choices narrow. SIMON WARDELL

Sylvester Stallone has no idea one person’s elite climber – bicycles can only get the way – but the suspension of the unbelief is in the midst of Renny Harlin’s evil -enjoyment. Sly plays a former Mountain Savior Savior who has dropped bank thieves to look for suitcases full of loot lost from a crash plane, with her exterior expertise that helps her escape their clutter. Kudos to stunt performers for vertiginous climbing, jumping and falling, and to John Lithgow for adding a class touch as the big baddy. SW
