Trump and Starmer are sitting next to -tabi – and the gulf between the two countries seems to be wider than ever | Gaby Hinsliff

SHortly after Keir Starmer arrived in Washington to fight for the future of Europe, two men did a mockery in all of his stands held on to America’s land. Toxic YouTube influences Andrew and Tristan Tate spent many years investigating Romania on charges of rape and human trafficking, which they denied, Andrew is now the British police because of rape allegations, and fellow brothers for taxation in this country. But in Magaworld they are martyrs, unfairly persecuted abroad for crime saying what they think on the internet.

Sitting next to Starmer, Trump protested that he knew ‘nothing about’ successful homes, even though it followed the reported US diplomatic pressure to the Romanian government to raise the ban on travel and Andrew Tate was proud of his friendship with the President’s son. But this is a small, strong reminder of how far apart from our two continents. It is the freedom of speech that Trumpworld seems to be galvanized, not the freedom of millions of people to live in peace along with Russian borders; As the Breezily President said in his cabinet this week, “We will take care of Europe”. However to the important question Starmer brought to Washington – if America cares for its former allies, offering a military backup without which its forces are dangerous to be exposed – the best to say for Trump’s answer is that this is not expected not, and even may come with trading -related strings.

Starmer was laid down with the recommended trowel, delivering an invitation from King Charles for an unidentified visit to the second state that the President was clearly satisfied with. But even though Trump praised her as a ‘special person’, it never felt like a special relationship; It is more than a kind of lovely transaction that leaves both sides that feel the grubby.

Europe still believes in the development of alliances, in special relationships, in the order of the world and in the West’s own idea. But Trump believes in any of that. To him, the old allies were only a few of the “relatives that turned around and used your pool for free”, because the former British leader of General staff Gen Sir Patrick Sanders recently put it down; The loser brothers who did not become as big as their billions of brothers, and were just getting around. And so he decided to cut off their allowances and make them earn their own retain, forcing Europe to pay for its own defense and second to make the business in terms that are more interesting to him.

The Britons are seeking for a Cathartic love, really a moment in which Starmer is motivated to put the law in the US, such as the fantasy prime minister of Hugh Grant. But while Emmanuel Macron walked away publicly correcting Trump when he visited earlier this week, Starmer was not someone who took the risks: he could not bring himself publicly judge Trump’s threats to Annexe Canada, a Commonwealth country. He will know that he is in Washington not only on behalf of his home country, but to please the cause of a continent in the most dangerous moment for Europe I remember in my life.

There is no peace in Ukraine, or in any other country along with Russian borders, unless Vladimir Putin knows that there will be a heavy price to pay either to destroy a ceasefire in KYIV or avoiding neighboring states. Although EU leaders have now scrambled to find the money to generate their own collective defense, following the US’s sudden decision to pull the plug, in practice it was years before they were ready to stand completely on their own two feet and Putin knew it. A European deterrent force that deployed to Ukraine without the risks of US -backup is not best without a hindrance and worst of a duck in sitting down. If Starmer’s dignity is the price to pay for making a deal that can save countless lives, then openly America can have it. But even may not be enough.

Battles in the battle Trump have lined up in recent days to offer the same advice to Europeans: Don’t waste your breath attracting Trump’s better instincts, or even US national interests, because what most of him cares about himself. Tell him that whatever you want is his route to a Nobel Peace Prize, or that the signing of a peace deal -Russia desired in Russia weakens him in China’s eyes, or there is money on it. “We are taking what we deserve to do,” Trump told his cabinet this week, a harsh mercenary deal Volodymyr Zelenskyy is currently pushing to sign which effective trade of Ukraine’s natural resources for its safety.

The US will gain important rare rare Earth’s mineral deposits in the tone of billions -billions of dollars, which are otherwise used to fund the rebuilding of a damaged country, in the kind of deal that countries defeat in war are more often forced to sign their conquerors than their should be friends. In return, Ukraine hopes that US mining companies desire for a safe operating environment will motivate the US to offer some kind of security -or, somehow, a backstop with any force of its EU neighbors can gather. If Starmer’s dignity is the price to pay for making that deal, or even for buying more time, then the US will openly welcome.

Accordingly, Starmer brought gifts to be placed at the foot of the self-manointed king: Trump’s immediate increase in defense is demanded-from 2.25% to 2.5% to 2027 at first, with more coming-funded a painful cut with overseas assistance. (Although it reflects its own priorities in Washington’s spending, the fact that it may be less relevant to the uprising than domestic reality: there is no time to rolle the pitch for manifesto-busting tax rises or to come up with creative solutions such as the rearmament bank suggested by the former head of defense staff Gen Sir Carter, even though they can play a role to play for a role, even though they can play a role in playing a role, even though they can play a role in playing a role, even though they can play a role in playing a role in playing a role, even though they can play a role. Longter purpose of 3%.)

Furthermore, Starmer has two cards to play, either of which is particularly comfortable for the Labor Party: not being an EU member (a creature that Trump continues to see as a way of screwing Americans) amid a trade war, and the social cachet of that royal visit.

But as Trump talks about unclear terms about how only the presence of American companies in Ukraine will ensure that there is no freedom, that shorter the tough promise to the air cover and other critical operations that Europe is looking for.

Until those changes, what left the Transatlantic Alliance look uncomfortable as the two countries separated by a common threat-the fall of a world-based order that has widely maintained peace in Europe for almost 80 years-a threat that only one of us is still recognized as dangerous. And no one can come back from there.
