Will British troops be sent to Ukraine? – Podcast | Ukraine

‘Europe should play its role,’ Keir Starmer said on Monday after a meeting of European leaders in Paris.

The UK’s Prime Minister added: ‘I am willing to consider making British forces on earth, along with others, if there is a long -term peace agreement. But there must be a backstop in the US, as US security guarantees are the only way to effectively prevent Russia from attacking Ukraine again. ‘

European leaders, including Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, were not included in Riyadh talks between the US and Russia about the end of the war in Ukraine. While the details of a peace plan remain unspecified, and Zelenskyy says he will not accept a deal unless Ukraine is on the table, it leaves deep questions about Europe’s future security.

‘We see a gulf between the US and Europe the wishes we haven’t seen since World War II,’ Dan SabbaghThe defense editor and security of the caretaker, tells Hannah Moore.

‘I think European leaders are somewhat united in the sense that they all believe that the support for Ukraine should continue, that they recognize in different ways Europe should climb. But there are different views today about whether to participate in some kind of damage or security force in Ukraine. ‘

What role should the UK play in protecting Ukraine in the face of Russia’s future invasion? And are the British troops ready?
